Presenting … my belly!

I don’t know. With all this talk about bellies, I took a picture of mine with my Macbook and then got inspired to post it here. Part of overcoming crap about my body, at least, is normalizing it. There it is folks. My belly, in all its resplendent glory.

Are you rocking the double bubble — with one roll above the belly button and one below? Hard to tell with where your jeans hit you, but if so, high five — that’s how I roll too.

(I’m trying to spread the “double bubble” terminology, so pass it on.)

Wish I was a double bubble…great term. I’m round and firmish like I’m preggers. Love all this belly stuff.

I’m not sure about the double bubble. I definitely curve in at the waist and then back out again. Haha! Double bubble.

I, too, have the double bubble. I love that term. (My husband just calls them Third Boob and Front Butt. Not as poetic, I think.)

    Best.phrase.ever.

Just yesterday, my thin sister was over, and we were talking about body image. I used to be really thin, and then gained weight in my 20s (combination genes and illnesses). She is now 18, and starting to gain some weight. She was asking if it was hard when I started to get fat, and I tried to give her the honest truth (yes) with the good language to make her not have the shame/fear/body hatred that I did at that age.

Then she asked me if it was normal to have a “dent” where her belly button was…and I was delighted to show her my double bubble! It’s so funny – it’s just not something you ask folks on the street, but it seems to be the normal belly!

Who doesn’t have a dent? That’s my question. I mean, I know lots of people who don’t, but I bet most people do, right?
